The
application, called VIVA Cash, was unveiled by VIVA Bahrain chief executive
Ulaiyan Al Wetaid at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay yesterday in the
presence of Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Kamal Ahmed, Central
Bank of Bahrain governor Rasheed Al Maraj, Sadad Bahrain chairman Shaikh Ali
bin Abdulla Al Khalifa and VIPs, guests, board members and management of both
companies.
“With
Bahrain leading the digital transformation in the region, and establishing
itself on the global map as a regional Fintech Hub, we at VIVA Bahrain have
made bringing Bahrain’s digital vision to reality a priority,” said Mr Al
Wetaid.
The
application launched yesterday provides customers discounts, cash-back rewards,
upgrades and free items at over 800 merchants.
A live
demonstration of the new technology took place during the launch, showing
customers how to make everyday payments through their phone.
Customers
can also top-up their accounts through 750 Sadad machines distributed all
around Bahrain or by using an existing debit card through the application.
VIVA Cash
provides customers with a straightforward mechanism to make payments and
simplifies the long process of sending money overseas, as customers are now
able to transfer money from their phones directly without remittance fees. Zero
remittance fees are offered for India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka
and the Philippines for a limited time along with other special offers.
VIVA Cash
is available for free on the Apple Store and Google Play Store.
