The prestigious Adipec 2017 Awards are now open for nominations, with five categories focused on issues crucial to the progress and resilience of the energy sector.

The Adipec Awards celebrate excellence and are a highly coveted accomplishment within the world of oil and gas, said a statement.

The accolades are a highlight of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (Adipec), the world’s most influential event for the industry and the global meeting place for movers and shakers in energy.

There are five categories in 2017, with a particular focus on innovation and efficiency as the industry adapts to an evolving energy landscape.

The categories include: Technological Innovation and Research of the Year; Best Digital Transformation Project; Driving Performance and Efficiency to Enhance Cost Optimisation; Social Contribution and In-country Value; and Young Adipec Engineer.

“The Adipec Awards provide added value to the oil and gas industry,” said Hiroshi Fujii, president and CEO of the Japan Oil Development Co (Jodco), which with its parent company Inpex Group is one of the awards’ sponsors.

“The awards recognise outstanding innovation and technology, best practices and people. The future of our industry is dependent on such leading innovations, technologies and people, and previous editions of the Adipec Awards have successfully identified and honoured these.”

Last year, the Adipec Awards received around 350 submissions from 34 countries. While previous editions have focused on the Mena region, for 2017 organisers are encouraging entries from throughout the world, raising the status of the awards as a truly global event.

Each Adipec Award entry is assessed through a meticulous judging process by the Regional Select Jury (RSJ). This panel of experts is comprised of senior professionals from across the oil and gas industry, including National and International Oil Companies, academic institutions, and professional associations. As leaders in their fields, the RSJ members provide a dedicated level of evaluation which narrows the entries to a final selection.

“The ADIPEC Award is an important recognition of the oil and gas industry’s aspiration to strive to enhance performance, related to important topics such as HSE (health, safety and environment), cost and social engagements,” said Neri Askland, a member of the awards’ jury and Statoil’s vice president in the Middle East.

“Thus, developing and recognizing people and company cultures are paramount to meet the future challenges of our industry.”

Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), Adipec 2017 will convene under the theme: “Forging Ties, Driving Growth.”

Organisers expect more than 10,000 delegates, 2,200 exhibiting companies, 900 speakers, and over 100,000 visitors from 135 countries who will gather in Abu Dhabi during the four days of the exhibition and conference programme, bringing together the world’s decision makers, industry leaders, and experts.

The deadline for entries for the Adipec Awards is August 22, with the shortlist to be announced in October. Winners and runners-up will be announced at the Adipec Awards Gala Dinner on Adipec’s opening night on November 13. Adipec will run till November 16. – TradeArabia News Service
