Shaikh Abdulla is Batelco chairman

MANAMA: Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco) has appointed Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa as its new chairman, replacing Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, who had held the post since December 2016.

Lauding Shaikh Mohammed’s services, Batelco board members said he had played an integral role during his term in implementing the company’s strategic plan.

Shaikh Abdulla is an industry veteran with more than 20 years’ experience in the banking and financial services industry. He was earlier the chief executive of Osool Asset Management, said a Batelco statement.

Shaikh Abdulla is also the chairman of Sico Investment Bank and a board member of BBK and Amanat Holding PJSC.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from the George Washington University, US, it added.
