Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has confirmed that it has made significant progress on the supply, extension and commissioning of 25km of major water transmission pipelines across various parts of the emirate.
This is in line with Dewa's strategy to enable the comprehensive development of electricity and water for the Dubai Plan 2021, and achieve customer expectations by delivering the highest standards of availability, reliability and efficiency, said its top official.
"We strive to increase productivity and operational efficiencies, and increase the flow of water to meet the rapid growth in water, in several parts of Dubai, and anticipate emergencies," remarked Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the managing director and CEO.
"The project includes the extension of Glass-Reinforced Epoxy main water pipelines, and remote control and monitoring systems," said Al Tayer.
Approximately 22 km has been implemented to date, about 88 per cent of the project which is worth Dh170 million ($46.2 million).
"The project includes 17 sites to connect the main transmission pipelines, to increase water flow, ensure the continuity of water access, and raise the pressure in the network to support existing and future projects in those areas, thereby contributing to the efficiency of the network," stated Al Tayer.
